ZYLtech PLA Wood+: contains more wood (20% w/w) and will require a larger nozzle, such as a 0.5mm or 0.8mm, to allow the wood fibers to pass through easily. The high wood content and lighter base color makes it perfect for staining with various wood dyes or stains. Printing with a smaller nozzle will more than likely result in a clog if your temps and retractions settings are not tuned to accommodate this filament. It is possible but the chances are high for clogging. Recommended temps: 200°C – 220°C. The photo below shows staining result with cedar wood stain.

Wood PLA

So I have printed a good amount of different brands of PLA in the last year. That being said, I have never come across a more seamless PLA then Zyltec's Wood PLA. I sculpt 3D busts and sell them and that means I deal in quantity. So last thing I want to do is waste money and time on post-processing. I don't know where they got the formula, but it is impressive. When I print large scale prints, they look beautiful with no post-processing. I am still working on a wood stain that will complement the surface quality, but it is only a matter time. You will not be disappointed with this PLA. I order it by the case.

Great filament

I've been using this filament for the past year and it's been wonderful. It does tend to cause a lot of stringing, but you just need to adjust your retraction settings. I honestly like using this wood filament over normal PLA, because it always comes out looking awesome.

This was only my second experience with wood filament so take this 4 star review with a grain of salt.

I have a CR-10S and maybe it was just me, but I had a heck of time making a profile for this to where it wasn't so stringy. Compared to hatchbox this wood is a bit darker, but looks beautiful and looks just like it was carved from wood when it's stained. The filament also has an order, nothing offensive almost smells like fresh cardboard as it prints but that's neither a negative or a positive. I found the recommend temperatures did not work with my machine, this prints best (at least for me) at the same temps as any other Zyltech filament.

Once dialed in though, the print quality is just smooth and amazing looking. Especially with some cherry wood stain. I actually think this could become my filament of choice for most of my projects going forward.
