Lead Screw & Anti-Backlash Nut

1. Break-in period – It is normal for there to be a small amount of noise and friction during during the initial 10 meter or so travel distance. After this break-in period, the nut and screw should run smoothly.

2. Preload - Preload is varied by adjusting the spacing between front and rear nuts. You may need to rotate the rear nut by 180° to minimize the gap.

3. Lubrication - Please remember to lubricate the lead screw and nut frequently. Way oil/lube such as Vactra #2 works well and lithium grease or graphite is good for the Delrin nuts. Remember, any lubricant is better than no lubricant! Engine oil is even acceptable if no other lubricant is available.

4. Handling - Please handle the lead screw carefully to avoid any bends or scratches. Verify that the screw is straight by laying it on a flat surface, such as a granite or glass table top, and rolling it to see if there are any irregularities from end to end.

5. Installation – We recommend that you use one of the two methods of installation as shown in pictures below. You can avoid excess friction by leaving one end free, as indicated by the image below.
